2002 DRAFT PICKS
Friday April 12th, 2002 0900NZT

Canterbury Ice Hockey Senior League held their second ever Draft Night on Monday 18th March 2002 at the Bowl & Jack in Christchurch.

The Rink Rats, after finishing the 2001 regular season in second place, took Noah Rees and visiting German player Swen Wiedemann as their picks.

Rees played his first game for the club last week in the 6-3 win over the Cougars.

Returning to the Rat-Pack after a year out of town is ex-NZIHF Ice Blacks goalie Neale Glass who is scheduled to be the starting goalie this coming Thursday against the Bears.

Newly acquired defenseman (2001 draft pick for the Bears) Wade McMillian is due to make his season debut against his old club, along with Wiedemann who arrives in New Zealand on Wednesday morning via Singapore.

In CIHA action last night, Mustangs recorded their second ever win in a 8-4 defeat of the Cougars, and the Mustardmen finished strongly but went down 5-6 to the Bears. These results leave the Rats in second position after four games, based on goals for and against.
