"Rinkled Rats" feature in ANZAC vs World match
Christchurch, March 9th, 2003 1800
NZT
Four
Rink Rats featured in yesterday's ANZAC vs Rest of the
World match-up, part of the opening attractions of the
2003 Garden City Old-Timers Tournament.
This
is the fourth Garden City event, and with teams from around
the globe, it is always a lot of fun. Such is the experience
depth of the Rink Rats squad, nearly 85% of the team are
old enough to take part in Old-Timers tornaments.
Forwards
Ian "Yoda"Bell, Johny "Crash"Argyle,
defenseman Ernie "Milkboy" Hayes and
goalie Neale "the Korea Incident"Glass
all represented the Rodents in fine style.
A
feature of the match was the use of the home and away
Rink Rats uniforms, which gave some interesting match-ups
- Glass making a save on a shot by Glass.
With
Hayes and Bell representing their birth-country of Canada,
it was up to Argyle and Glass to wave the Kiwi flag and
set the tone. It was not to be, with the World selection
out-classing the ANZAC squad 12-2. Still, there's always
the cricket...
