MUSTANGS
ELBOW THEIR WAY TO DRAW
Alpine Ice Sports Centre, Christchurch
May 12th, 2004 1500 NZT
In
the second game of a back-to-back series, the Rodents
once again held on to a 4-4 draw against the improving
Mustangs.
It
was ground hog day all over again after their 3-3 draw
the previous week, and leaves the Rink Rats with a 2-0-3
result and 7pts for the first five games of the new season.
Despite
an elbow to the mouth early in the third period which
cost him four teeth, defenseman
Stan Greene was able to continue and finish the game,
recording an assist and +2. Not one of the three on-ice
officials saw the incident which occurred off the puck
along the boards to the left of the starting goalie Neal
Glass.
When
asked about how the injury occurred, the 6ft 2in 102kg
blue-liner had no comment. In the past, he has always
preached playing a religious brand of hockey - "It
is always better to give than to receive", which
may well explain his team-leading career 364 penalty minutes.
Stay
tuned for the rematch in six weeks time.
